i've been discovering music lately. here's what i'm digging (with the return of links!):

rilo kiley. totally awesome.

the magnetic fields. they have a 3 disc opus called 69 love songs. need i say more?

the mountain goats. weird and hilarious. i'm particularly fond of the best ever death metal band in denton off an album called all hail west texas, which you just know appeals to me. sadly playing SF june 11-12, when i totally can't go.

i really like the sleater-kinney song i wanna be your joey ramone.

i found an mp3 of weezer covering hit me baby one more time. sometimes i can almost forget that rivers has betrayed my love with the most recent album.

i find that chicken payback song really entertaining.

3 songs in quick succession - ray charles, georgia on my mind; norah jones, turn me on; nick cave & the bad seeds, babe, you turn me on (off the recent double album, which is incredible).

and, for some reason, bowling for soup. they remind me of nerf herder, except with even more pop, less punk.

morningwood, take off your clothes. less than two minutes of awesomeness.

frank sinatra, my way, and dean martin, especially his medley o' drinking songs. don't ask, i have no idea why i've suddenly become really into the rat pack. especially dino.

merle haggard, sally let your bangs hang down. i listen to this all the time.

mary lou lord. i love the bitterness and condescension of she had you.

michelle featherstone has this really slow, sad song called coffee and cigarettes that i like for numerous reasons.

i have also come to believe that junior brown's my baby don't dance to nothing but ernest tubb is a brilliant song (but it doesn't get a link because all the urls for it are too long).

wilco's we're just friends got obnoxiously stuck in my head the other day until i came to appreciate it, and i love passenger side.

still love the old 97's, particularly weightless (a nice happy song) and w-i-f-e, your classic drowning your sorrows honky tonk song.

and, can't forget, WEEN and the FLAMING LIPS. take that, bitches.

ok, now i remember why the links went away. that just took a shitload of time. time i should have been using to grade midterms.
