The Blarney Stone - Ween 7-25-06

now, I saw them twice in the Bay Area, and while they played roughly half of The Mollusk and a good portion of Chocolate and Cheese (and even Mr. Richard Smoker), they did not play this. Of course. but that's okay, because i met Dean Ween.

ok, so i've gotten really into vh1's world series of pop culture. it's fun. and i like the host, pat kiernan. he's dry and funny and snarky - sort of this cross between bob costas (he never varies his facial expression while always looking like he's secretly amused by all of this) and clive anderson (who's totally one of my heroes of snark).

so lately i've been getting dvds of tony hawk's gigantic summer skatepark tour from netflix. i love watching this shit. i'll watch it for hours on end. not just because i've always liked skating and skateboarders, but because it just seems like a really good fucking time. like a really long party with a bunch of awesome guys. makes me wish i was a professional skater so i could go party with them.

so the point is now i can actually identify many of the skaters (although not any of the tricks). i like watching vert more than street, but it's all good, really. i like watching them all screw around and get in trouble and jump off really high things.

and i now have a really big crush on alex chalmers. he's canadian! really, though, i love to watch a lot of the guys, enough that i'm not going to provide names and links for everyone.
